It will be recalled that in fulfilment of its pledge to Ekiti state government, BEDC had restored electricity supply to some communities in Ekiti state namely; Erinijiyan, Ipole- Iloro and Ikogosi last December.
BEDC had recently during a meeting with the Ekiti state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi assured that power would be restored to the tourism corridor of the state by middle of December 2018. Communities in the tourism hub which have been out of supply included; Ikogosi-Ekiti host of the Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort, Ipole-Iloro, base of Ariata Waterfalls and Erinijiyan Ekiti.
This emerged after a meeting between BEDC management team led by the Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Funke Osibodu and Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti.
The CEO had at a press briefing hinted that there was ongoing rehabilitation of Ikogosi/Erinijiyan/Ipole Iloro on Aramoko 33kv feeder, adding that communities in these areas should have more stable power soon.
BEDC it will be recalled, is partnering with Ekiti State Government (EKSG) on an arrangement for a more improved power supply to enable it power its streetlights among other efforts at restoring power to communities out of supply.
Some recent power improvement projects in Ekiti state include; installation and commissioning of 3 N0s 11kv indoor panels at Agric 15MVA injection substation to replace the obsolete ones, and the commissioning of the new CBN Ado Ekiti 2.5MVA 33/11KV injection substation and two numbers 1.5MVA 11/0.415KV distribution substations within the CBN complex to increase power supply and quality of supply from 6 hours to 12 hours.
BEDC said that major challenges affecting operations in the state include; transmission bottlenecks, limitations in rearranging Distribution network to improve power supply and increase in network and equipment vandalisation.
